BOOK REVIEW: “Sacred Sex” by Tony Evans

Title: Sacred Sex
Genre: Christian Living/Relationships/Sexuality
Author: Tony Evans
Glass House Gospel Rating: 4/5

OVERVIEW: This book is a much-needed breath of fresh air in the day and age in which we find ourselves. Tony Evans finds a short and simple, yet powerful and knowledgeable, way to explain what “Sacred Sex” means. While I do think this book packs more of a punch for someone who is single, I could still gain knowledge from having it read it as a married woman. I think every single Christian should take a few hours off to read this book and learn what sex looks like when it honors God and how to fight temptation before marriage.

THEOLOGY: Despite being a small book, it packs a punch in the theological department. Though, don’t be put off by that. While you will learn some new terms and find out the stories behind some verses in the Bible, it’s an incredibly easy read, so you will come to find you enjoy learning as you read.

READABILITY: You could read this book in one day if you really wanted to. I say this because the book is 74 pages long. Not only that, but it is written in a way that is easy to understand. While I would note that it does teach a lot (explains what happens in the brain chemically during sex, gives a background for why Paul wrote the things he did in 1 Corinthians, etc), it does so in a way that is very easy to understand, which is why I say you could really read this all in one day.

PRICE: On Amazon, it is currently a little over $3 (used) and $13 (new), but prices change frequently, so please keep that in mind.

QUOTE: “Sex is part of your God-given DNA, but it was never designed to be your master” (Page 35)
