At my worst, He was still drawing me to Him. God was whispering “come to me”.
As I took some time to reflect on the 10th anniversary since I was saved, I realized that, even in my darkest moments, God was still there calling me.
So much attention is given to the day of salvation, and what comes after it, but rarely do we look back before to see the small whispers from God.
I can remember when I was 14, when my whole world had shattered to pieces. My parents divorced. We sold our home. Everything I knew as normal had been rocked. And yet, even in that chaos, God whispered my name. I couldn’t see Him clearly, but I could hear the whispers. And yet, I turned away.
Later in life, when I would find myself losing everything all over again, those whispers continued, but unable to see Him clearly, I’d turn away again. Yet, I knew someone was calling me…
Every time I entered a church, I knew someone was calling me…
Every time I spoke to someone who knew Jesus, I knew someone was calling me…
On April 25, 2010, that whisper would turn into a loud roar, like Jesus waking Lazarus from the tune. On that day, God would open my eyes and allow me to see him clearly.
He was calling me all along.
Do you hear the whispers?
If so, turn to Him. Seek Him. Follow the Shepherd’s voice.
His sheep know His voice and will find Him.
